How the wallet works
What each tab does, how safe it is, how you should use it, how to produce an address for the real Bitcoin network, and why this client does not send coins over the internet.
What the wallet can do
- Overview, Send, Receive, Transactions, Console — Bitcoin-Qt layout.
- HD receive addresses (BIP84 P2WPKH) on DemoNet (
bcrt1). - Encrypted backup download. Lock wipes plaintext keys from RAM.
How safe is it
Safer than a site that emails you a private key. Not as safe as Bitcoin Core on an offline machine. AES-256-GCM wraps, PBKDF2 at 210,000 rounds, optional second password. Extra options coming soon. Safety collapses without HTTPS, with random extensions, or if you type the seed into another website. You are responsible for that environment.
Addresses for the real Bitcoin network
Guardian uses a BIP39 twelve-word English mnemonic. Sentinel’s six words are not BIP39 and cannot be imported into Electrum.
DemoNet path: m/84'/1'/0'/0/i (bcrt1). Mainnet path: m/84'/0'/0'/0/i (bc1q). The Receive tab can show the mainnet address so you can check it against Electrum before any value moves.
- Create a Guardian vault. Write the 12 words on paper.
- Receive → Show mainnet address. Copy the
bc1qstring. - Install Electrum or Sparrow from the vendor site.
- Electrum: New wallet → Standard → I already have a seed → BIP39 → native segwit (p2wpkh).
- Confirm the first address matches. Only then receive bitcoin — in Electrum, not in CoreVault.
A seed typed on a daily-driver browser should not hold large amounts.
Can this wallet send over the internet?
No. The Send tab does not talk to Bitcoin. There is no node, no Electrum protocol, no mempool.space broadcast. The “transaction” is a row in localStorage. That is deliberate.
Broadcasting real bitcoin from a website would mean fetching live UTXOs, signing a mainnet transaction, and pushing it to a public API. That expands the attack surface and would require you to trust whoever operates the page. CoreVault refuses that trust model.
To send over the internet, use Electrum, Sparrow, or Bitcoin Core with the BIP39 seed (or a hardware wallet). CoreVault stops at wrapping keys and showing the matching mainnet address.
Demo vs real mode
Online demo (wallet.html): try wrapped keys and watch DemoNet transactions — for learning.
Real mode (local app after email registration): 12-word BIP39 phrase protects key material; password wraps the vault. Same registration idea as ETF Compare Pro.
After download, verify SHA-256 (588bca057547247e76d65161d601bc7b21e288a5066125c12feccf93fe887917 for the current zip) — preferably against the hash in your email. Prefer a clean VirtualBox VM for running the full app.

Hilfe
bcrt1).
DemoNet-Pfad: m/84'/1'/0'/0/i (bcrt1). Mainnet-Pfad: m/84'/0'/0'/0/i (bc1q).
- Guardian-Tresor anlegen. 12 Wörter auf Papier.
- Empfangen → Mainnet-Adresse zeigen.
bc1qkopieren. - Electrum oder Sparrow von der Herstellerseite installieren.
- Electrum: Neues Wallet → Standard → Seed vorhanden → BIP39 → natives SegWit (p2wpkh).
